Yujung Son
Program Coordinator, Community Engagement Team
Yujung Son is a program coordinator on the Community Engagement team at the Gates Foundation. She collaborates closely with local organizations and internal partners and provides operational and program management support.
Yujung worked in advertising and tech operations before making a career pivot and joining the Gates Foundation in 2020. She started her foundation journey with the Gender Equality Division and moved to the Community Engagement team in 2022.
Yujung received her bachelor's degree in journalism (strategic communication) and a certificate in gender and women’s studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Fun facts:
- Yujung grew up in Korea, China, and Portland, Oregon.
- When Yujung was in high school, she posted a photo of Pike Place Market on Instagram with the following caption: “Hope I can live in Seattle one day!” Her dream came true four years later.
